Haemostat 250 mg Tablets: Anti-fibrinolytic & Haemostatics

Composition

Each tablet contains ethamsylate 250 mg.

Pharmacokinetics

Ethamsylate is absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract when given orally. It produce its effect within one hour.

It is excreted unchanged mainly in the urine, some appears in the faeces and bile.

Indications

  • For the prophylaxis and control of haemorhage due to rupture of small blood vessels in surgery.
  • For treatment of clinical conditions such as haematemesis, haematuria and menorrhagia.

Drug interactions

High molecular weight plasma expanders may be given after but not before ethamsylate ingestion.

Dosage

CASE DOSE
Prophylactic dose. 750-1000 mg. (3-4 tablets).
Therapeutic dose.
  • Initially 750 – 1000 mg. by injection, followed by
  • maintenance dose 2 tablets every 4 – 6 hours.
Children dose. One tablet every 4 – 6 hours.

Package

Pack of 20, 200, 1000 tablets in 2 ,20 and 100 strips, respectively, each of 10 tablets.

Storage

  • Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C.
  • Keep in dry place, protect from light.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Medicament is a product which affects your health, and its consumption contrary to instructions is dangerous for you.
  • Follow strictly the doctor’s prescription, the method of use and the instructions of the pharmacist who sales the medicament.
