Bronchovent Oral Tablets – Uses, Precautions, Side Effects

✔️ Medically Reviewed by: Dr. Ahmad Baker, PharmD

Bronchovent tablets are used to relax the bronchi and relieve spasm (constriction) of the bronchi, which is reflected positively on the passage of air in the airways, and thus breathing becomes easier. Bronchovent tablets are mostly prescribed to treat shortness of breath, which is often caused by lung problems (e.g. asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, bronchitis and emphysema).

Bronchovent belongs to a class of medicines called beta-receptor agonists. Beta receptors are sensitive areas found in the cells of the respiratory system, and when they are stimulated by drugs, this leads to relaxation of the bronchial muscles, which allows the opening of the airways and facilitating the passage of air through them, which is reflected in the breathing being Easier and more comfortable.

Bronchovent tablets are suitable for adults, the elderly, and children over 8 years old. However, pregnant women or nursing mothers should not use Bronchovent tablet except in cases of necessity and when there is no safer alternative.

By the time, the effectiveness of Bronchovent tablets decrease, and accordingly its ability to relieve asthmatic attacks or shortness of breath decreases, so if you notice that the effect of the Bronchovent has become less than usual, or if the symptoms do not improve despite the use of the medicine, or if you feel that you need to take an additional dose of medication to control asthma or shortness of breath, in this case you should seek medical attention and consult your doctor.

It is also useful to point out that there is an uncommon use of Broncovent, which is the treatment of premature labor, as it works to prevent premature labor (delaying the due date).

The side effects of Bronchovent are directly proportional to the dose. The higher the dose, the greater the possibility of these side effects. Tremors in the extremities, especially the fingers, increased heart rate, anxiety, tension and sleep difficulties are among the possible side effects. that may result from treatment with Bronchovent tablets.

Indications

Bronchovent is indicated for the relief of bronchospasm in patients with reversible obstructive airway diseases, bronchial asthma of all types, chronic bronchitis and emphysema.

Because of their selective action on the bronchi and their minimal effect on the cardiovascular system, Bronchovent is suitable for treating bronchospasm in patients with co-existing heart disease or hypertension.

As β2 receptors cells are also found in the smooth muscles of the uterus, Bronchovent causes relaxation of uterine smooth muscle.

Bronchovent tablets are used in the following cases:

  1. bronchitis .
  2. Emphysema.
  3. asthma.
  4. Prevention of asthma attacks, and prevention of bronchospasm.

Important: Bronchovent is not considered an effective and definitive treatment for asthma, but it only relieves the symptoms of asthma attacks and prevents their occurrence.
