Alka-Misr Alkaline Wash Powder is an effective preparation used to prepare an aqueous alkaline solution which is useful as an antimicrobial, antipruritic, lubricant and mild astringent, it is used as nasal and throat wash to render mucous less viscous, it is also used as a vaginal douche in cases when vaginal discharge is highly acidic and has an unpleasant odour.
Composition
Each 5 gm powder contains:
- Sodium chloride……… 1.66 gm
- Sodium bicarbonate……… 1.66 gm
- Borax ……… 1.66 gm
Indications
Nose & Throat Indications
- AS nasal wash to dissolve mucous.
- As mouth wash in inflammations of throat associated with dental problems and aphthous ulcers.
Vaginal indications
- Symptomatic relief of minor Irritation and itching associated with vaginitis.
- Leucorrhea and feminine hygiene.
Mode Of Administration
Mouth & Nasal Wash
dissolve the content of one sachet (5gm) in half a glass of warm water:
- As nasal wash: by inhalation from 3 to 5 times per day.
- for throat & mouth: gargle 3 to 5 times per day.
Vaginal Douche
- dissolve the content of one sachet (5gm) in one litre of warm water and mix well. Use once or twice daily or as directed by the physician.
- Not to be used during pregnancy.
