Piroxiden capsules – Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory

Composition

  • Piroxiden 10mg capsules: each capsule contains piroxicam 10 mg.
  • Piroxiden 20mg capsules: each capsule contains piroxicam 20 mg.

Indications and dosage

Case Dosage
Initial dose Subsequent dosea
Rheumatoid arthritis and other rheumatic disorders, osteoarthrosis, degenerative joint diseases and ankylosing spondylitis. Single dose of 20 mg. 10-30 mg. once or in divided doses after meals.
 Acute musculo-skeletal disorders 40 mg daily for 2 days 20 mg.daily for 1-2 weeks
Post operative and post traumatic pain Single dose of 20 mg. 20 mg. daily in single But in severe cases 40 or divided doses mg. daily for 2 days. 20 mg daily in a single or divided doses
Dysmenorrhea and painful uterine spasms 40 mg. daily for 2 days. 20 mg. daily for 1-3 days
To reduce pain and fever associated with upper respiratory tract inflammation. Single dose of 10-20 mg. Daily.

Precautions

Concurrent administration of aspirin results in decreased plasma concentration of piroxicam to about 80% of normal.

Contra-indications

  • Gastric or duodenal ulcer and haemorrhagic gastro-intestinal diseases.
  • Hypersensitivity to piroxiden and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
  • Pregnancy and lactation.
  • Infants and children below 12 years old.

Package

  • Piroxiden 10mg. capsules: pack of 12 and 1002 capsules in 2 and 167 strips, respectively, each of 6 capsules.
  • Piroxiden 20mg capsules: pack of 12 and 1002 capsules in 2 and 167 strips, respectively, each of 6 capsules.

Storage

  • Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C.
  • Keep in dry place, protect from light.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Medicament is a product which affects your health, and its consumption contrary to instructions is dangerous for you.
  • Follow strictly the doctor’s prescription, the method of use and the instructions of the pharmacist who sales the medicament.
