Composition
- Each Lecardopa 110 mg tablet tablet contains carbidopa 10 mg, and levodopa 100 mg.
- Each Lecardopa 275 mg tablet tablet contains carbidopa 25 mg, and levodopa 250 mg.
Indications
1. Used in relieving symptoms of parkinsonism particulary rigidity and bradykinesia.
2. Helpful in managment of tremors, dysphagia, sialorrhoea and postural instability associated with parkinson’s disease.
Drug interactions
The combination of lecardopa with MAO-B inhibitors has been reported to improve efficacy of lecardopa in controlling episodes of akinesia and [or] dyskinsia.
Concomitant adminstration of psycho-active drugs such as phenothiazines or butyrophenones should be carried with caution and the patient carefully observed for loss of anti- parkinsonian effect, both phenytoin and papaverine have been reported to reverse the beneficial effects of levodopa .
Dosage
- Optimum daily dosage determined carefully titration for each patient.
- Take 1 tablet 3 – 4 times daily .
- If necessary dose increased by½ or 1 tablet for maximum 8 tablets per day.
Package
- Pack of 30 tablets in 3 strips, each of 10 tablets.
- Pack of 10 tablets in one strip.
Storage
- Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C.
- Keep in dry place, protect from light.
- Keep out of reach of children.
