Bilharzin Tablets – Anthelmintic medication

Composition

Each tablet contains 600 mg. praziquantel.

Uses and adminstration

• Anthelmintic with a broad spectrum of activity against trematodes (flukes) and cestodes (tape worms).
• It is administered by mouth with food.

Precautions

Should not be used in patients with ocular cysticercosis because of the risk of severe eye damage resulting from destruction of the parasite.

As it may cause dizziness or drowsiness so patient should not drive or operate machinery during or for 24 hours after treatment.

Excreted in breast milk and mothers should not breast feed during or for 72 hours after treatment.

Dosage

*Active against all species of schistosoma pathogenic to man

Shistosomiasis dosage

20 mg./kg. of B.wt with food at intervals of 4-6 hours or single dose of 40 mg. / kg of B.wt.

Lung flukes and intestinal fluke infections dosage

25 mg. / kg 3 times daily for one or 2 days.

Tape worm infection dosage

5-25 mg./kg. of B.wt.

Package

Pack of 4 tablets in one strip.

Storage

• Store at temperature not exceeding 30°C.
• Keep in dry place, protect from light.
• Keep out of reach of children.
