Safamood tablets – Herbal supplement to alleviate anxiety

Safamood is a dietary supplement containing St. John’s wort (Hypericum perforatum). it is mainly used as an over-the-counter remedy to treat mild and moderate depression, and sometimes seasonal affective disorder (SAD), mild anxiety and sleep problems. Safamood used in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age to relieve the mild symptoms of mental stress, such as nervousness, worrying or irritability and to aid sleep. A doctor or a qualified healthcare practitioner should be consulted if the symptoms last for more than 2 weeks or worsen during the use of Safamood. It is a traditional herbal medicinal product used for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with stress, such as mild anxiety.

Before you take Safamood

Do not take this product if you are:

  • Under 18 years of age.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Allergic to any of the ingredients.
  • Taking any other medicines for anxiety, or to help you sleep such as benzodiazepines.

Driving and using machines: This product may cause drowsiness. If you are affected do not drive or operate machines

 How to take Safamood

Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told to you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose for adults and children over 12 years of age is :

  • For relief of temporary mental stress : 1 to 2 tablets morning and evening. Dosage may be increased following to your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions.
  • To aid sleep : 1 to 2 tablets evening, ½ hour before bedtime.

If your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 21 days, you should contact a doctor or pharmacist. The duration of treatment should not exceed 6 months continuously.

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following side effects have been reported :

  • allergic reaction causing inflammation of the blood vessels .
  • Nausea or feeling sick.
  • Tachycardia (increase of the heart rate). The frequency of these side effects is not known.

If these persist for more than a few days, or become troublesome, stop taking this product.

Other medicines and Safamood

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines. Concomitant use with other calming medicines (such as benzodiazepines) is not recommended unless advised by your doctor or pharmacist.

Taking Safamood with food and drinks

Not applicable.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. In the absence of sufficient data to rule out any harmful effects during pregnancy and breast-feeding, the use of this medicine during this period is not recommended.

Driving and using machines

This medicine may impair ability to drive or use machines. If this effect occurs, do not drive or use machinery.
