Each capsule contains:
- Carisoprodol: 200 mg.
- Paracetamol: 250 mg.
Carisoprodol is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant with a sedative effect.
Carisoprodol is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, metabolized in the liver and excreted in urine as metabolites including meprobamate.
Following oral administration, the effect of carisoprodol begins within 30 minutes and lasts 4-6 hours. The plasma half-life is approximately 8 hours.
Paracetamol is an analgesic, acts with carisoprodol to augment the pain relieving effect of Myorelax®.
For the relief of painful muscle spasm associated with acute painful musculoskeletal conditions, e.g., strains, sprains, myalgia, tension headache, torticollis, lumbago, trauma, spondylitis or back pain.
- Idiosyncratic reactions to carisoprodol or related compounds, e.g., meprobamate
- Children or adolescents younger than 12 years of age
- Impaired hepatic or renal function.
- Patients who have to perform hazardous activities, requiring mental alertness or physical coordination
Pregnancy and lactation
Carisoprodol crosses the placenta and passes into milk.
The most frequent adverse effects are; drowsiness, dizziness, vertigo, ataxia, tremor, agitation, irritability, headache, depressive reactions and insomnia.
Sometimes, nausea, vomiting, hiccups, increased bowel activity, epigastric distress, tachycardia, postural hypotension and facial flushing.
On very rare occasions, patients may have allergic or idiosyncratic reaction; the symptoms of which usually subside within several hours. Symptomatic and supportive therapy may be required.
Concomitant administration with other CNS depressants.
1-2 capsules 3 times daily or as recommended by the physician.
N.B.: The elderly patients may need reduced dose.
Strips of 10 capsules in packs of 1 strip.
