Mucosin Oral drops/ Liquid: Uses, Dosage& Side effects

Mucosin oral drops, suitable for infants and children from birth to two years of age. Mucosin oral drops prescribed to relieve cough, expand the airways, dissolve sputum and facilitate its secretion, these symptoms are usually associated with respiratory diseases (such as bronchitis or bronchitis). Mucosin works by reducing the viscosity of trachea secretions (reduces the viscosity of the sputum), and thus facilitates the process of expelling these secretions (sputum), and this effect leads to a decrease in cough severity.

Each 1 ml of Mucosin (0.75%) Oral Drops, contains 7.5 mg of Ambroxol hydrochloride in addition to the other inactive ingredients (excipients).

Each 1 ml of Mucosin Oral Drops (solution/liquid) corresponds to 20 drops.

  • Infants 6 months of age or younger: 7 drops orally every 12 hours or 0.5 ml every 12 hours.
  • Children 7 to 12 months: 20 drops orally twice daily or 1 ml every 12 hours.
  • Children 1 to 2 years of age: 1.25 ml every 12 hours – or 25 drops by mouth twice daily.
  • Children over 2 years old: It is recommended to switch to ambroxol syrup, because the dose using oral drops (liquid/solution) will not be appropriate or practical in this age group.

The duration of treatment, in most cases, does not exceed 4 to 5 days (the duration of treatment will be determined by the doctor, according to the type and severity of the case and the extent of response to treatment, in addition to other factors).
