Dafrex tablets

Dafrex is used in the treatment of acute or chronic hemorrhoids, varicose veins, and lymphedema. It improves blood flow in the veins and restores its function. Dafrex is taken with or without food in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your doctor know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.

The most common side effects are abdominal pain, headache, nausea, and diarrhea. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. This medicine may also cause diarrhea, so it is better to take plenty of fluids while taking this medicine as it may help to prevent dehydration. Lifestyle modifications like reducing smoking, increasing exercise, and a healthy diet will help you to get better results.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine. You should let your doctor know if you have liver or kidney heart problems.

Each tablet contains:

  • Diosmin 450 mg.
  • Hesperidin 50 mg.

Indications

  • Treatment of symptoms related to veinolymphatic insufficiency e.g. heavy limbs pain, varicose veins.
  • Treatment of functional symptoms related to acute haemorrhoidal attacks.

Dosage and mode of administration

  • In venous insufficiency, 2 tablets daily (one taken at lunch time and one taken at dinner time).
  • In haemorrhoidal attacks, 6 tablets daily, for the first 4 days, then 4 tablets daily for the following 3 days (in divided doses in lunch and in dinner time).

Adverse effect

Some cases of minor gastro-intenstinal disorders have been reported, which never required cessation of the treatment. Any gastro-intestinal discomfort could be avoided by taking Dafrex during meals.

Warnings and Precautions

Haemorrhoidal attacks: The administration of Dafrex does not exclude the specific treatment of other anal diseases, the treatment must be for short duration. If symptoms are not relieved rapidly, proctological examination should be done and treatment should be reviewed.

Pregnancy and Lactation:

In pregnancy, clinical studies on animals did not reveal an evidence of teratogenecity. On the other hand, to date, studies on human have not revealed any harmful effect.

In lactation, as there is no enough information about excretion of Dafrex in mother’s milk, lactation is not advisable during the course of treatment.
