Composition
Each capsule contains: Cinnarizine 75 mg
Properties
Cinnarizine- 75 produces fast relief of various symptoms of cerebral and peripheral circulatory disorders and prevents attacks of vascular headache such as migraine.
It normalizes cerebral circulation time and curves and improves cerebral irrigation in patients suffering from cerebral circulation disorders and in patients suffering from vasospastic disorders (Raynaud’s disease).
Cinnarizine 75 normalizes arterial pulsations. The drug significantly increases the rate of inflow pulsation and the blood flow in the most affected limb as well as the walking distance of patients suffering from intermittent claudication.
Cinnarizine-75 reduces the healing time of crural ulcers. It reduces or eliminates Symptoms of vestibular disturbances: vertigo, tinnitus and autonomic manifestations (nausea, vomiting, pallor and cold
extrem and reduces or prevents future episodes.)
Indications & Usage
1- Cerebral circulatory disorders including:
- Cerebral vascular spasms and arteriosclerosis, such as dizziness, ear buzzing (tinnitus), vascular headache, imitability, fatigue, sleep rhythm disorders e.g. premature awakening, involutional depressions, loss of memory and lack of concentration, incontinence and other disorders due to ageing.
- Sequelae of cerebral and cranial trauma.
- Postapoplectic disorders.
- Migraine.
2- Peripheral circulatory disorders:
prophylaxis and maintenance therapy for symptoms of vascular spasms and arteriosclerosis (obliterating arthritis, thrombo angitis obliterans, Raynaud’s disease, diabetes, acrocyanosis, pemio, etc.) such as: intermittent claudication, trophic disturbances, pregangrena,trophic and varicose ulcers, paraesthesia, nocturnal cramps and cold extremities.
3. Disorders of balance:
- prophylaxis and maintenance therapy for symptoms of labyrinthine arteriosclerosis, vestibular irritability. Meniere’s syndrome, such as vertigo, dizziness, giddiness, syncopal attacks, tinnitus, nystagmus, nausea and vomiting.
- Prophylaxis of motion sickness.
Dosage
- Cerebral circulatory disorders: 1 capsule daily.
- Peripheral circulatory disorders: 2-3 capsules of 75 mg daily.
- Disorders of balance: 1 capsule of 75 mg daily.
- Motion sickness: 1 capsule half an hour before travelling to be repeated
every 12 hours. - N.B:-Cinnarizine 75 capsule should preferably be taken after meals.
Side Effects
Such as somnolence and gastro-intestinal disturbances are extremely rare. They are transient and may some be readily prevented by achieving the optimal dosage gradually. Combination therapy with other drugs is possible whenever indicated.
Contra-indications
Cinnarizine is contraindicated in patients with acute prophyria
Warning &Precautions
Patients should be warned not to take alcohol while under treatment with this drug.
Drug-DrugInteractions
Cinnanzine s an antihistaminic and may enhance the sedative effects of CNS depressants including is alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, opoid analgesics & antipsychotics.
Also it has additive antimuscarinic action with other antimuscarinic drugs sush as atropine and some antidepressants.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Cinnarizine should be taken with caution during pregnancy and lactation and it should be used under physician prescription.
