Carbatol – Antiepileptic, Neurotropic & Psychotropic Agent

Each tablet contains: carbamazepine 200 mg.

As an anti-epileptic agent, Carbatol® has a beneficial effect on partial seizures ( simple & complex) with and without secondary generalization; generalized tonic-clonic seizures (grandmal), as well as combination of these types of epilepsy.

As a neurotropic agent, Carbatol® is effective in a number of neurological disorders, e.g. it prevents paroxysmal attacks of pain in idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia.

In diabetes insipidus centralis, Carbatol® reduces the urinary volume and relieves the feeling of thirst.

As a psychotropic agent, Carbatol® proved to have clinical efficacy in affective disorders, i.e. as treatment of mania as well as for the prevention of manic depressive (bipolar) disorders when given either as monotherapy or in combination with neuroleptics, antidepressants, or lithium.
In alcohol-withdrawal syndrome, Carbatol® improves withdrawal symptoms, e.g. hyperexcitability, tremor, impaired gait.
