Composition
Each metered dose contains 50 mcg beclomethasone dipropionate monohydrate equivalent to 42 mcg beclomethasone dipropionate
Pharmacological properties
Beclomethasone dipropionate in Beclo® Nasal Spray is a corticosteroid with mainly glucocorticoid activity.
The therapeutic effects of Beclo® Nasal Spray include :
- Vasoconstriction
- Reduction of mucosal edema
- Inhibition of mediators release
- Inhibition of inflammatory cell infiltration
Beclo® Nasal Spray provides symptomatic relief of watery rhinorrhea , nasal congestion , sneezing and nasal or pharyngeal itching .
Indications
1-Beclo® Nasal Spray is indicated for Prophylaxis & treatment of:
- Seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Vasomotor (non-allergic ) rhinitis
2. Beclo® Nasal Spray is indicated for Prevention of recurrence of nasal polyps following surgical removal
N.B. Recurrence of symptoms due to polyps can occur after stopping treatment depending on the severity of the disease.
Precautions
Treatment with higher than recommended doses for prolonged periods may result in clinically significant adrenal suppression.
Care must be taken while transferring patients from systemic steroid to Beclo® Nasal Spray if adrenal function is impaired.
Infections of the nasal passages and paranasal sinuses should be appropriately treated but do not constitute a specific contraindication to treatment with Beclo® Nasal Spray
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of this preparation contraindicates its use
Dosage & administration
Adults and children 12 years of age : The usual dosage is 2 nasal sprays in each nostril twice daily. Once adequate control is achieved, the dose is reduced to the lowest effective level, 1 spray in each nostril 3times daily.
Children 6 to 12 years of age: 1 nasal spray in each nostril 3times daily.
