ALLERGEX® Tablets – Antihistaminic Anti-allergic

ALLERGEX® is an antihistamine, used to relieve symptoms of allergy, hay fever, and the common cold. This medication works by blocking certain natural substances (histamine, acetylcholine) that your body makes. This effect helps to relieve allergy/cold symptoms such as watery eyes, runny nose, and sneezing. Cough-and-cold products have not been shown to be safe or effective in children younger than 6 years. Do not use this product to treat cold symptoms in children younger than 6 years unless specifically directed by the doctor.

ALLERGEX® does not cure or shorten the length of the common cold and may cause serious side effects. To decrease the risk for serious side effects, carefully follow all dosage directions. Do not use this product to make a child sleepy. Do not take other cough-and-cold medication that might contain the same or similar ingredients . Ask the doctor or pharmacist about other ways to relieve cough and cold symptoms (such as drinking enough fluids, using a humidifier or saline nose drops/spray).

Composition: Each tablet contains: Chlorphenoxamine hydrochloride 20 mg.

ALLERGEX® (chlorphenoxamine) is an antihistaminic with sedative as well as anticholinergic properties. ALLERGEX® provides symptomatic relief of allergic conditions and pruritic skin disorders; its effect starts within 30 minutes and lasts for several hours.


  • Hay fever.
  • vasomotor rhinitis.
  • urticaria.
  • serum sickness.
  • angioneurotic oedema.
  • pruritus ani.
  • pruritus vulvae.
  • contact dermatitis.
  • insect bites.

Dosage and Administration

1 – 2 tablets 2 – 3 times daily.


  • As with other antihistaminics, ALLERGEX® may cause drowsiness, therefore people in charge of vehicles or machinery should be cautioned accordingly.
  • ALLERGEX® may enhance the sedative effects of central nervous system depressants including barbiturates, hypnotics, narcotic analgesics, sedatives and tranquilizers.


Like other antihistaminics with anticholinergic properties, ALLERGEX® should not be given to patients with glaucoma or prostatic enlargement.

Side Effects

Particularly sensitive patients may experience drowsiness, lassitude, dizziness, blurred vision or dryness of mouth.
